The J&K Grameen Bank was incorporated on June 30th, 2009 after the merger of two former Regional Rural Banks – Jammu Rural Bank and Kashmir Rural Bank through the GOI Notification on 30th June 2009 issued under the subsection (1) of the 23A of the Regional Rural Bank act of 1976. The bank has extended its operation to 11 districts other than a few parts of Srinagar and Ganderbal. The bank at present has 176 branches with 7 extensions. The bank was established solely with the aim of improving the economy of the rural as well as semi urban and urban centers of the State.

Being sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir bank, the J&K Grameen Bank has its head office at Narwal in Jammu. The basic objective of the bank is to focus on better customer service by providing them with the best infrastructure, experienced working staff, well developed market search, computerization of every manual work and various opportunities to diversify the services through the different branch activities. The bank provides housing loans, loans to establish small businesses, for self employment, educational loans, sericulture and agriculture loans, and personal as well as car loans. It simply works for the upliftment of the people of Jammu & Kashmir by financing the agriculture as well as the business sector.

The entrance exam of the J&K Grameen Bank is carried through Common Written Exam via IBPS in which it is obligatory for the candidates to score eligible marks to pass for the next round of the selection procedure. However, the final selection is done on the basis of total marks achieved in the written examination. Having perfection in the local language of the place is a compulsion for the selection of this job opportunity. The age limit prescribed for Officer Scale I is above 18 years and below 28 years, for Officer Scale II is above 21 years and below 32 years and for Officer Scale III is below the age of 40. The age limit of office assistants is between 18 to 28 years. The other eligibility required for job opportunities in JKGB are job vacancies, CWE scorecards, age limit, nationality, pay scale, qualification and experience.

A candidate who has applied for the Office Assistants post can also apply for the job position of a Post of Officer. Whilst a candidate who has applied for a job in the Officer’s cadre (Scale I, Scale II and Scale III) can only apply for one post. The candidate has to download the application form from the official website and fill in the details which are mandatory along with the necessary proof asked for.
